Chantel & George are absolutely the sweetest couple you could possibly meet. When we first met at a Starbucks on a cold winter’s night, I knew we’d have a great time together and that their wedding would be awesome, and that first impression wasn’t wrong whatsoever. This past July they were married just outside of Edmonton at Hastings Lake Gardens on a beautiful Alberta summer day. Chantel was absolutely radiant, and her and George’s joy and excitement at joining their lives together infused the whole day with so much of their own wonderful personalities (and is so evident in these pictures too). We used the beautiful grounds out at Hastings Lake for a few pictures with the whole wedding party before heading to McKay Avenue School for some time with just the three of us.Then it was off to the Edmonton Convention Center for a delicious dinner and a wonderful night of family, friendship, laughter, and partying! It was a pleasure to meet and spend some time with both of their wonderful families!
Rachelle & Jo’s wedding was a long time coming for me. We started discussing it way back in early 2013, and from the moment we met I knew these two creative and dynamic people would be a ton of fun to work with. Well, their engagement session set the bar pretty high, but their wedding easily surpassed that. The best way I’ve been able to describe their wedding is “as absolutely authentic and classy as you can possibly make a Star Wars-themed wedding”. Make sure you check out a few of the AMAZING centerpieces that Jo hand crafted further down in the post. 🙂
After getting ready at Grant MacEwan, the wedding ceremony took place in the Alberta Art Gallery, in their gorgeous front atrium. That was followed up by a Chinese tea ceremony upstairs on the Terrace, while all of the gueses enjoyed the wonderful weather we had been blessed with. Then everyone headed back down to the atrium for an EPIC bride & groom entrance, complete with a customized Star Wars-style crawl, and lightsabers! What could have been better!
Thanks so much to Rachelle & Jo for including me in your day!
What a year! I know it may not look like it from the state of my blog (which WILL be improving in the next year), but 2014 was such a wonderfully busy year for me! I photographed more weddings and more families than I ever have before, met more people, saw more happy faces, and spent more quality time with clients than ever before!
So, here is my year in review post! I want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone I worked with this year. Every couple who emailed me, excited to talk about their wedding. Every family who trusted me to capture their family portraits. Every bridesmaid and groomsman who tolerated me taking yet another picture of them. Every new married couple, for letting me into one of the happiest and most precious moments in their lives and treating me like family. I am so blessed to work with some of the most amazing people, and I can’t wait to see what 2015 has in store for me.
From me to you, I hope everyone who reads this blog had a very merry Christmas and a joyous new year, and I hope our paths cross in the future, for the first time, or just for the next time.
So, finally, here I am, blogging my final wedding of the 2013 season. What a great way to wrap up a great year of wedding: by getting out of the city and spending the day in a fresh, new place! Tawnya & Jon, who you might remember from their blustery spring engagement pictures earlier in 2013) are from Lloydminster, and their wedding was out there on a gorgeous September Saturday. I caught up with the girls as their hair and makeup were getting finished before returning to Tawnya’s parents house to finish getting dressed. As a treat, we got to ride in an International MXT (courtesy of Black Magic Limo), stretched into the sweetest limo I’ve seen in a LONG time.
Their ceremony was at St. Andrews Catholic Church, somewhere I was pretty familiar with from the last wedding I photographed in Lloydminster a few years ago. Then we jumped over to Bud Miller Park for some family pictures, and some time with their awesome wedding party. Then as the sun started to fade on the day, we headed off to the Stockade Convention Center for their reception. The whole day was such a great family affair, the blending of two big, wonderful families, and the time just flew by for me. I feel so blessed to have been asked to be a part of Tawnya & Jon’s special day.
So, finally, the pictures I’ve been holding on to for months now! Enjoy!
And here is part II of Neilin & Faisal’s wedding! Part I is over here if you missed it!
We started the morning at the bride’s parents house, where Faisal met Neilin and picked her up for the day, following a small ceremony. It was my first look at the couple of the day, and they looked amazing (and amazingly relaxed too). Continue reading →
