I talk a lot about love on this blog, and share a lot of weddings. It’s a passion that I have, photographing weddings, but even just being present for people entering into a marriage. We all deserve love. Two people finding love is a beautiful thing that I love to celebrate, and being a close part of many different peoples weddings is always a deeply humbling experience. I feel so honoured each and every time.
Well, I’d like to take a moment out of the press of regular wedding stuff to celebrate love at a different stage of life, in a way that we don’t usually see. My wife’s grandparents recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Grandma & Grandpa met in their twenties, and were married within weeks of their first date. They have lived across the breadth of this great country of ours, raised six children of their own, watched and helped as fifteen grandchildren were brought into this world, and now firmly in their 80’s are now proud great grandparents to my own little Finnsicle.
We gathered as a family this past weekend at Sabor Divino in downtown Edmonton, to break bread, talk, get caught up, and most of all, to celebrate the happy couple. I truly can’t express how happy it makes me to see them together, and to celebrate a period of time almost double my own time on Earth, spent committed in love to each other. Here’s a few quick snaps from dinner.
Happy Anniversary, Grandma & Grandpa!
